About Falling UP

Falling UP plunges players into a surreal provincial city where reality bends to its own laws. Returning home after mental hospitalization, Nick must navigate a twisted society—either reclaim his "normal" life or embrace chaos to tear it all apart. Every choice reshapes the world and your psyche.

Core Mechanisms & Unraveling Madness

1. A Living, Breathing City: The environment reacts to your sanity state. Walk too far down a “wrong” path, and streets collapse, or the town’s “rules” escalate (e.g., time loops, inverted gravity).

2. Psychological Trials: To integrate into society, pass distorted “tests”—deleting memories via puzzles, arguing with hallucinations, or confronting guilt personified as NPCs. Fail, and the city rejects you.

3. Fluid Narration: The story fractures as Nick’s mental state deteriorates. Dialogues repeat with altered context; NPCs may praise or despise you for the same action, reflecting unstable perceptions.

The City That Feeds on Norms

1. A Society of Shadows: Citizens are both allies and enforcers of its bizarre laws. A kind neighbor might force you to “correct” your thoughts via rituals, while others sabotage your attempts to “fit in.”

2. The Hidden Experiment: The town is a psychological study—NPCs are subjects, and Nick’s choices fuel its evolution. Discover journals hinting at a secret “project” to create the “perfect” human, or destroy it.

3. Dual Realities: Choose between compliance (conform to rituals for stability) or defiance (trigger riots, disappearances, or new territories). Neither path guarantees safety—it might just change the way you die.

Nick’s Fractured Journey

1. The Cost of Stability: To “earn” acceptance, you might betray loved ones, erase traumatic memories, or adopt dangerous ideologies. Each choice chips away at your humanity—or reveals it was an illusion.

2. Ghosts of the Past: Haunting encounters with ex-roommates, doctors, or childhood friends force you to revisit trauma. Do you confront them, weaponize their guilt, or let them haunt you forever?

3. The Downward Spiral: Can you truly reintegrate into society when the town’s “norms” are madness? Or is “sending norms to hell” the only way to survive—or wake up?
