About I Scream

In 2046, a post-WWIII world, you emerge from a childhood locked in darkness—only to face new horrors at an abusive institution. When your only friend dies by suicide days before your release, her ghostly presence haunts you. Why can you still see her? Unravel a story of grief, trust, and the bonds that outlive death in this emotionally charged narrative adventure.

Shattered Beginnings: A Childhood in the Shadows

1. Basement Survival: Your earliest memories are of cold concrete, flickering lights, and the muffled sounds of a world above. Locked away by an unknown captor, you learned to survive on silence and stolen scraps—skills that later made you invisible to the caretakers at the Institution for Abused Children.

2. Institutional Nightmares: The “home” that was supposed to save you was worse. Neglect, verbal cruelty, and hidden abuses ran rampant. Here, you met the outcasts: Lila, the artist who drew monsters she claimed were real; Jax, the boy who spoke to walls; and Elise, your first true friend—their light a stark contrast to the institution’s gloom.

3. Elise’s Final Day: On the eve of your release, Elise died. The official story called it suicide, but her body bore marks no rope could explain. Her last words to you: “Don’t let them forget me.” Now, weeks later, her ghost lingers—flickering at the edge of your vision, whispering clues only you seem to hear.

Elise: More Than a Memory

1. Her Voice in the Static: Elise isn’t just a shadow. She’s vivid—her laugh, the way she twirls her hair when nervous, the smudge of paint on her cheek from her last drawing. But her presence is unstable: she fades in crowded halls, shrieks when near the institution’s basement, and sometimes speaks in a voice not her own. Is she trapped… or warning you?

2. Secrets She Carried: Before she died, Elise sketched a series of disturbing images: a woman with star-shaped scars, a door marked “Sanctuary,” and a date—the night you were locked in the basement. These drawings, hidden in your backpack, are your only map to the truth.

3. The Bond That Defies Death: Grief has made you reckless. You skip classes to follow Elise’s lead, sneak into restricted areas, and even lie to the staff—all to uncover why she’s still here. But your obsession strains your fragile new friendships. Lila accuses you of “chasing ghosts”; Jax warns you’re “playing with fire.” Can you trust Elise… or are you losing your grip on reality?

Unraveling the Conspiracy: Truths Hidden in the Rubble

1. The Institution’s Dark Past: The building itself holds clues. Faded murals in the basement depict star-shaped symbols matching Elise’s art. Old patient records mention a “Project Starlight”—a failed experiment involving “sensory deprivation and memory manipulation.” Were you and Elise part of it?

2. The Caretakers’ Lies: The staff’s reactions are telling. The headmistress avoids your questions; the night guard sweats when you mention Elise; a nurse slips you a note: “Check the old boiler room—burned files.” Every lie you expose peels back a layer of the institution’s rot.

3. Elise’s Connection to the Storm: The night Elise died, the institution’s power grid failed. Survivors whisper of a “purple storm” that lit up the sky—an anomaly linked to Project Starlight’s experiments. Did Elise’s death trigger it… or was she trying to stop it?

Your Choices: Redemption, Revenge, or Revelation?

1. Trust No One vs. Trust Everyone: Will you confide in Lila and Jax, risking they’ll abandon you? Or keep Elise’s secret, pushing them away? Your alliances shape who helps (or betrays) you in the end.

2. Destroy the Truth vs. Expose It: If you learn the institution’s role in Elise’s death, do you burn the evidence to protect the few kind staff? Or leak it to the outside world, risking your own safety?

3. Let Go vs. Hold On: Elise’s presence grows stronger—but so does her pain. She begs you to “free” her… but freeing her might mean erasing her from your memory forever. Can you say goodbye?
