Reddit Inc., commonly referred to as Reddit, is an American social news aggregator, content rating, and forum social networking platform founded in 2005. It was co founded by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian with the initial idea of creating a text message delivery service, but eventually evolved into a user generated content (UGC) platform where users can share links, images, text posts, and interact with other users. The uniqueness of Reddit lies in its community driven nature, where users can influence the ranking of content through voting (upvote and downvote), making more popular content easier to see. In addition, Reddit's content is organized into multiple "communities" or "subreddits" based on different themes, each with its own rules and administrators.
