V4.2 UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENT

PUBG MOBILE will begin pushing out the Version 4.2 Primewood Genesis update without interrupting service on January 7, and should be available to all players by January 7 at 11:00 (UTC+0). The actual update schedule may be adjusted for various reasons; any changes will be announced at the earliest notice. Update rewards can be claimed via mail: Themed Music Track "Whisper" ×1, V4.2 Perk Voucher ×20, BP ×1,000, AG ×100. You will also automatically receive the exclusive V4.2 Forest City Theme.

Primewood Genesis Themed Mode

Themed Areas

This time, we've attempted a "fusion of old and new" for 5 urban areas in Erangel—keeping a familiar pace while introducing new changes with tree roots, vines, and nature mechanics. Encounter new buildings, themed gardens, and PvE purification zones in old locations, making looting and battles more dynamic and engaging.

● Urban Area Revamp: Hospital, Pochinki, Sosnovka Military Base, Yasnaya Polyana, and Mylta have been revamped. In addition to new buildings, corrupted plants will appear in the urban areas; defeating these plants will unlock crates wrapped in corrupted vines.

● Corrupting Swamp: In areas of the map with dense sinister energy, grotesque flowers have formed and are threatening the surroundings. Defeat the Corrupting Mega Flower in this area to open a crate and receive great supplies.

Themed Event

●Primewood Purification: All players are invited to participate in the Primewood Purification event. Gather energy to purify the corruption, awaken the vitality of the Primewood, and restore its lush canopy and greenery.

●How to Participate: Any of the following actions contributes to the server's purification progress.

✧ Clear the Corrupting Flowers from the Arborum Sanctuary to cut off the source of corruption.

✧ Defeat the Corrupting Mega Flower in the Corrupting Swamp to receive great supplies and lots of purification energy.

✧ Planting Sacred Fruit also accumulates energy for revitalizing the Primewood.

●Purification Rewards:

✧ When the server-wide purification progress reaches 50%, the Bramblewood Scorpion vehicle will become available in matches. It can burrow and attack, adding strategy and variety to the battlegrounds.

✧ When the server-wide purification progress reaches 100%, the Targeting Vines item will become available in matches. It's a key item that can turn the tide of battle, allowing for both offense and defense.

*Server purification progress can be viewed in "Main page - Themed System" or the Event Center.

Smart Ally

Following the popularity of the penguin ally in V4.1, we now introduce Barkle, the treant ally. He helps block damage, heal, and search for supplies for you in battle, giving a true sense of a silent protector.

● Join the Team: Barkle only appears on Erangel and Livik. Midway into the match, find Barkle on the map and interact with him to invite him to join your team. Once he joins, you can issue commands via voice chat or the command wheel, and Barkle will carry it out.

● ● Barkle Skill Overview:

✧ Participate in Combat: Barkle helps advance and attack enemies when his recruiter engages in combat.

✧ Defend: Barkle returns to his recruiter's side and blocks shots with his body when their Health is low.

✧ Rescue: When his recruiter is knocked down, Barkle will carry them to a safe location and use up his own Health to rescue them.

✧ Carry: Barkle's recruiter can command him to carry them to a specified location.

✧ Heal: If Barkle is defeated and his recruiter is nearby, he will instantly restore their Health and Energy.

✧ Supply Search: Barkle's recruiter can ask him to help find supplies. Barkle can detect supplies within a certain range.

Themed Vehicle

Bramblewood Scorpion (Two-Seater Vehicle)

The Bramblewood Scorpion's stealth capabilities help bring more strategic depth to vehicles, helping players better seize opportunities, set ambushes, or escape in battle, by combining traversal and combat.

● How to Obtain: Find the Scorpion Horn item in-game to summon the Bramblewood Scorpion.

● Skills:

✧ Burrow: Stealthily burrow underground for rapid movement. The pilot and passengers cannot be attacked in this state. Burrowing consumes stealth energy, and the scorpion will be forced to resurface when energy runs out, or when its tail takes damages.

✧ Pincer Attack: Swing both pincers to strike enemies in front.

✧ Spike Bomb: Aim and fire at a target, dealing area damage and inflicting a slowing effect in the area.

✧ Launch Slide: Passengers can use this to eject from the scorpion and slide on the ground for a brief period. Freely jump while sliding or cancel the slide at any time.

Cherry Blossom Deer (Two-Seater Vehicle)

We've noticed that many players use themed modes as a social space, so we created the elegant Cherry Blossom Deer that leaves a trail of flowers when it runs. We hope players can share a moment of peace and beauty with their teammates amidst the intense battleground, to ease the pressure.

● Feature: Lush plants grow in the wake of its steps, leaving behind a temporary trail of flowers.

Themed Item

Targeting Vines

Centered on control and counterplay, it provides controllable vines that can form a shield at critical moments, restrict enemy movement, change the tide of battle, and create offensive and counter-attack windows for allies.

● How to Obtain: Targeting Vines becomes available in matches when Primewood purification progress reaches 100%.

● Skills: Rare Skill Item

✧ Once acquired, it can be instantly deployed from the themed item slot to summon controllable vines. Control the direction of the vines by swiping the screen, to block enemies off or provide protection.

✧ Shield: After casting the skill, a one-time shield is generated around the user for the duration of a single skill. The shield blocks damage, but will break after taking sufficient damage.

✧ Ensnare: Tap the ensnare button to generate a red circle at the crosshair. Enemies or vehicles within the red circle must get out in time, otherwise they will be ensnared. Ensnared players can mash the break free button to escape faster. Teammates of ensnared players can also attack the ensnaring vines to help teammates break free sooner.

✧ Skill Cooldown: When the skill's duration is up, or their Health has been depleted, the skill immediately ends and enters cooldown. You can also prematurely cancel the skill by tapping it from the item bar again.

Florawings

We wanted to redefine player movement and spatial agility, so we designed this tactical item centered around motion. Its basic function is to smoothy get around the map, while also offering advanced players the ability to quickly reposition for attacks and execute tactical dodges, providing a tangible combat edge with three-dimensional movement.

● Skills: Rare Skill Item

After equipping, you can view the equipment status in the backpack item tab, and your character will show wings on its back.

Movement: After equipping, a skill button will permanently appear on the right side of the screen, offering four forms: Boost / Low-Altitude Flight / High-Altitude Flight / Flash. Tap the button and use the joystick + swipe screen to control direction and orientation. Flight and Flash consume energy, and your character will land when its depleted. Strong impacts or environmental restrictions (such as interiors/low-ceiling areas) will forcibly interrupt flight.

Harass: Teleport to a location and trigger a pollen flash to interfere with enemies, briefly blinding those affected.

Themed Firearm

Overgrowth - Honey Badger

Following the Kar98K in the last version, this time we're introducing the new themed Honey Badger. This gun can switch between rifle and pod shells, and is also capable of health recovery, allowing players to freely switch between long-range and close-range offense, defense, and support, for a refreshing gameplay experience.

● How to Obtain: Only available in the themed mode, with a thematic appearance and loot special effects.

● Skills:

✧ Health & Energy Recovery: When knocking down or eliminating an enemy, recover a certain amount of Health and Energy within 5 seconds. Triggering this multiple times in a short period will refresh the recovery duration.

✧ Attribute Bonus: Gain a firearm spread and stability bonus by standing still for several seconds while holding the firearm. Moving loses the bonus.

✧ Switch Forms: The firearm can switch to firing pod explosives. Hitting enemies deals explosive damage and applies a slight slowing debuff for several seconds. This form consumes multiple rounds per shot.

Gameplay Mechanic

Prime Eye

The Sacred Tree is not just lore in the background, it's something to interact with. We made an interactive instance, closely linked with Erangel and matches. With the Prime Eye, you can survey the entire battleground situation. Become a commander, and use skills to deploy formations and achieve highlight-reel comebacks through team coordination.

● Gameplay: Head to the Ishtar Gate on the map to enter the Primewood Heart instance and compete for the Prime Eye artifact. After acquiring the Prime Eye, use it to activate a bird's-eye view of Erangel and unleash various Sacred Tree skills to control the battle: Barrier, Teleport, Heal, and Corrupting Flower.

● Skills:

✧ Barrier: Summons an opaque barrier that blocks shots, and can be used to advance, hold positions, or cover teammates when relocating.

✧ Teleport: Place two portals to quickly teleport between, enabling highly mobile aggression and retreat.

✧ Heal: Generates a healing zone in the designated area, continuously restoring Health. Downed teammates within the area can be rescued, enhancing the team's battle sustainability.

✧ Corrupting Flower: Spawn a Corrupting Flower at the target location, dealing continuous damage to enemies within range. Defeating it grants high-value supply rewards.

Cross-Match Planting

Previously, each match was a standalone experience, lacking a sense of persistence between matches. Thus, we've incorporated a cross-match planting and harvesting system based on the Sacred Tree theme. Fruits you plant in one match will mature in subsequent matches, bringing new objectives and routes, so collecting supplies is no longer just about searching.

● Sacred Bud/Sacred Fruit: Plant and harvest supplies across matches.

✧ Plant: Pick up a Sacred Bud in-match and choose a safe location to plant it. This will be the harvesting point later on.

✧ Harvest: After playing a certain number of matches on the map, the Sacred Bud will absorb enough energy and mature into a Sacred Fruit. Interact with it to claim supply rewards. Sacred Fruits come in three qualities, with Gold Fruits having a chance to summon the treant ally Barkle to fight alongside you.

✧ Contention: Ripe fruits are visible to all players in this match, and others can pick them first. If a player takes another's fruit, their location will be exposed to the fruit's owner for a period of time. Be wary of retaliation.

Classic Mode Updates

Firearm Adjustments

We're continuing to make the unique strengths of different firearms more defined. This update focuses on expanding the use cases of 7.62mm rifles, enhancing their optimal combat range. At the same time, we will continue to fine-tune shotguns and observe their combat performance.

● Slightly increased the base damage of 7.62mm ammo rifles. Applicable firearms:

✧ Honey Badger: 43→45

● Slightly reduced shotgun shell damage. Affected firearms:

Cooperative Climbing

Introducing the first-ever two-player climbing mechanic, designed to expand vertical paths and tactical options. Boost and pull each other up to break through height and terrain limitations, create more ascent and movement routes, and enjoy a more layered three-dimensional exploration experience.

● Feature Overview: Work with teammates to reach high places inaccessible alone, for expanded attack routes and high-ground positions.

● Usage: Every player has a Co-op Wristband in their backpack. Equip it to actively trigger cooperative climbing. It is issued by default in Classic Mode and Payload.

● Boost Teammate: While crouching, assume a ready stance with hands clasped. A teammate can then boost off your hands to get higher.

● Pull Up teammate: Get into a ready stance at a high position to pull someone up. A teammate can then climb up by grabbing your hand.

Basic Combat Improvements

● Cut Away ParachuteIf you get stuck in the gap of a building or other irregular situation for more than 10 seconds while parachuting and landing, an option to cut away the parachute will appear. Tap it to immediately get rid of the parachute and avoid getting stuck for a prolonged period of time and disrupting your early-game looting..

● 4x Scope Changeable Crosshair: Changing crosshairs only applies to the current weapon.

● Throwable Improvements:

✧ After tossing a throwable, hold down the attack button to quickly follow up with the next one after a short charge, for a better rhythm when throwing consecutively, and improved efficiency when transitioning between offense and defense.

✧ During the throw preparation phase, tapping the weapon slot will immediately cancel the throw and switch to your weapon, allowing you to react to sudden changes in the situation or to quickly switch targets.

● Prone Improvements:

✧ When prone and aiming down sights, brief movements (approx. 0.5 seconds) will not exit you out of ADS, reducing unintended actions and improving the consistency between recoil control and observation.

✧ When prone against a wall and horizontally rotating the camera, your character will rotate normally without being blocked by the wall, improving gathering intel when hugging the wall or corners.

● Climbing Improvements:

✧ Improved the window edge detection so that climbing is triggered more consistently.

✧ Improved the animation transition between climbing and the climbing camera to be smoother.

● Enter Training Grounds as a Team:

✧ When teaming up in the Lobby, you can team up to enter the Training Grounds under Unranked.

✧ When in the Training Grounds, you can also invite friends to join your team and enter your Training Grounds.

● Reconnect During Loading: If a match fails to load due to a timeout, you can now reconnect to reduce losses outside of combat caused by disconnections.

● Highlights: Now supports selecting a starting playback segment. Jump to a specified segment during playback for quick review.

Promotion Match

Recently, we've received feedback from some players that the current pace of climbing the ranks is too fast, leading to a lack of motivation and challenge in the long run, especially among high-tier players who generally report a lack of long-term goals and high-quality matches. To remedy this, we are introducing a highly challenging Promotion Match mechanic: Players must pass a Promotion Match to advance to Ace tier. We hope that this adjustment will allow players to more stably compete with players of similar strength, with more balanced matches and a greater sense of achievement.

● Core Mechanic Overview:

✧ New highly challenging Promotion Match mechanism for Ace tier and above. You must consecutively achieve the specified individual rank goal on Erangel or Livik to be promoted and unlock the corresponding tier and rewards.

✧ Server-Wide Ranking Qualification: You must first complete the Ace Promotion challenge and reach Ace tier before you can enter the Conqueror server-wide ranking.

✧ Promotion Matches are individual challenges. Other players in the same match (including teammates and opponents) will not receive any notifications, and the regular match experience will not be affected.

● Promotion Match Rewards

✧ Glory: Promoting unlocks higher-tier rank names (e.g., promoting from Crown I to Ace), which are displayed on your profile and in Lobby, showcasing your strength and achievements.

✧ Tier Reward: After completing the promotion challenge for the corresponding stage, you can claim season-exclusive rewards. Rewards will be issued upon successful promotion. Equip them from the season backpack in time.

✧ One-Time Verification: Within the same season, players only need to successfully complete the Promotion Match series challenge once across all servers and modes.

✧ Qualification Trigger: When your rating points in any mode (Solo/Duo/Squad, TPP/FPP) first reach the Promotion Match threshold (4,199/4,699/5,200), you will unlock the qualification for the same set of Promotion Match challenges.

✧ Mode Restriction: Promotion Matches are only available in TPP - Squad.

✧ Available Maps: Themed Erangel, Classic Erangel, Themed Livik, Classic Livik (Challenge objectives are proportional to map size to ensure fairness.)

✧ Optional Participation: Promotion Matches are completely optional and are manually selected from Start interface.

✧ Team Up Requirements: Promotion Matches aim to provide a more rigorous competitive environment, so there is a minimum tier requirement for teammates.

➢ Promoting to Ace: Teammates must be Crown V tier or higher.

➢ Promoting to Ace Master: Teammates must be Ace tier or higher.

➢ Promoting to Ace Dominator: Teammates must be Ace Master tier or higher.

✧ Promotion Requirements:

✧ Promoting to Ace: Unlocked after reaching 4,199 Rating Points and individually ranking in the top 15 (Erangel)/top 8 (Livik) in 3 consecutive matches.

✧ Promoting to Ace Master: Unlocked after reaching 4,699 Rating Points and individually ranking in the top 12 (Erangel)/top 6 (Livik) in 4 consecutive matches.

✧ Promoting to Ace Dominator: Unlocked after reaching 5,200 Rating Points and individually ranking in the top 10 (Erangel)/top 5 (Livik) in 5 consecutive matches.

✧ Settlement Rules:

✧ Rank Determination: Your rank is determined based on the number of remaining enemy players on the battleground excluding teammates when you are completely eliminated.

✧ Scoring Rules: Promotion Matches will calculate Rating Points, Challenge Points, and Combat Power normally. However, Rating Point bonuses (tier protection, returner bonuses, event bonuses, etc.) will not take effect during settlement.

✧ Progress Protection: You automatically gain 1 Progress Protection for each new Promotion Match. It automatically gets used up if you fail the match, and keeps your current challenge progress.

✧ Promotion Match Settlement: Same-Mode Real-Time Calculation: If you are up for promotion in TPP Squad, then the Promotion Match score will be calculated in real time. Cross-Mode Delayed Calculation: If you are up for promotion in a mode other than TPP Squad, the Promotion Match score will be stored and calculated together the next time you play a regular match in the mode in which you were up for promotion.

✧ Unlock Record: Promotion Match qualification is linked to the server and mode where the player first reached the unlock score.

✧ Privacy Settings: Promotion status is visible to friends by default and can be hidden in the privacy settings.

✧ Individual Challenge: Other players in the same match (including teammates and opponents) will not receive any notification.

Season Series

Beyond seasonal pursuits, active veteran players lack a unified, way of showing off the honor of their "perseverance." Therefore, we are introducing the Season Series System: a prestigious top honor system established on a semi-annual basis, designed with honors that take multiple aspects into account, to ensure that players excelling in "Perseverance," "Strength," and "Technique" all receive the recognition they deserve.

● Overview: This system uses Season Series as the settlement period. 1 Season Series = Half Year Period = 3 Seasons. The progress of Season Series Medals, Continuous Challenges, Trial Challenges, and the Season Series Treasury lasts for a whole Season Series, and only resets when a new Season Series begins. (Note: Everything is based on the Season Series, and not individual seasons.)

● Season Series Medal: A testament to a player's strength throughout the Season Series.

✧ Medal Structure: The medal is made up of four parts: the core gem, central chassis, light effect, and surrounding star halo. Each corresponds to different progress of the Season Series. They upgrade instantly once conditions are met.

✧ Core Gem (Perseverance): Based on the number of seasons that Crown tier has been reached in the current Season Series. The more seasons that Crown tier has been reached, the more lustrous its form.

✧ Central Chassis (Activity): Based on how many seasons you have logged in on over 40 days in the current Season Series. The more seasons this has been achieved in, the more exquisite its appearance.

✧ Border Light Effect (Outstanding Skill): Based on the highest Classic tier (Ace/Ace Master/Ace Dominator) achieved in the current Season Series. The higher the tier, the more radiant the light effect.

✧ Star Halo (Technique): During this Season Series, complete any 10 missions from the Trial Challenge mission pool to light up all the stars on the star halo one by one.

● Continuous Challenge: A symbol of continued tier excellence.

✧ Objective: You must achieve the specified tier in all three seasons of the same Season Series to earn the corresponding rewards.

✧ Catch-Up Mechanic: There are no catch-up missions for this challenge. However, you can use a Season Series Catch-Up Core to instantly complete an unfinished challenge that is one season away (e.g. progress is at 2/3) before the Season Series settlement period.

✧ Note: The Season Series Catch-Up Core is only valid for the current Season Series and if unused, will automatically expire after settlement.

✧ Obtain 1 Season Series Catch-Up Core when reaching a total of 3,000 Season Series Points from Trial Challenges.

● Trial Challenge

✧ Purpose: Complete them to earn Season Series Tokens and Season Series Medal upgrades.

✧ Point Rules: Complete high-difficulty trial missions within a match to earn Trial Points.

✧ Dynamic Limit: The Trial Points limit increases as the seasons progress, allowing for players to catch up:

➢ Season 1: 1,000 points limit

➢ Season 2: 2,000 points limit

➢ Season 3: 3,000 points limit

✧ Rewards:

➢ Season Series Token: Reach specific progress milestones to claim Season Series Tokens.

➢ Medal Growth: Complete trials marked with the Season Series Medal to light up the medal's Star Halo.

✧ Mission Pool Update: The version will continuously update the Trial Challenge mission pool. Newly added missions will also count towards and light up the medal's Star Halo.

● Season Series Treasury

✧ Purpose: Use Season Series Tokens to redeem exclusive top rewards in the shop.

✧ Update Period: Content is updated on a Season Series basis.

✧ Token Rules: Cycle-exclusive tokens obtained from Trial Challenges and Continuous Challenges do not expire and can be accumulated across Cycles.

✧ Return Mechanic: Previous Season Series rewards and Continuous Challenge exclusive rewards will return here at a higher price, allowing you to acquire desired cosmetic items and honors.

World of Wonder Updates

We have supercharged the editor with AI technology, lowering the barrier to creation and helping everyone realize their ideas more easily. This update also brings major upgrades to the editor, adding features such as automatically generating grouped objects from text descriptions and generating animations from uploaded reference videos through the AI assistant. Additionally, a new trending Special Collection category has been added, allowing Creators to submit their creations for extra exposure from players.

● AI Smart Assistant Update:

✧ New Animation Generation Feature: Upload a video to generate a corresponding skeletal animation that can be used by armed AI in visual programming and Virtual Projection Devices.
