About Fresh Starts

Fresh Starts is a narrative-driven life simulation game where you trade small-town comfort for the ruthless opportunities of Hutinberg, a metropolis that rewards ambition over integrity. Face morally complex choices—from white lies to criminal acts—as you scramble for money, social status, and a place to call home. Your decisions will reshape your identity, relationships, and ultimately determine whether you survive the city’s cutthroat environment without losing yourself in the process.

Ethical Dilemmas and Moral Gameplay

1. Dynamic Morality System: Every choice—whether bribing an official, sabotaging a rival, or exploiting friendships—shifts your alignment on a hidden "Integrity vs. Adaptation" scale. This scale unlocks unique dialogue options, story branches, and endings, from redemption arcs to tragic downfalls.

2. Consequence-Driven Narratives: Actions ripple through the game world; steal from a employer, and you might gain short-term funds but lose future job opportunities. NPCs remember your behavior, altering their trust and willingness to help based on your reputation.

3. Gray-Area Scenarios: Navigate ambiguous challenges where no choice is purely "good." For example, do you expose a coworker’s secret to secure a promotion, or protect them and risk your own eviction? These dilemmas lack optimal solutions, emphasizing emotional weight over gameplay optimization.

Immersive City Exploration and Survival

1. Resource Management Under Pressure: Balance hunger, fatigue, and stress while hustling for rent money. Scavenge for food in dumpsters, take on high-risk gigs, or social-climb at elite parties to access resources—each method impacting your mental health and moral compass.

2. Procedural Urban Events: Hutinberg feels alive with dynamically generated encounters, such as muggings, protests, or chance meetings with influential figures. Your responses—intervening, fleeing, or profiting—shape neighborhood dynamics and unlock hidden areas.

3. Skill-Based Mini-Games: Succeed at activities like lock-picking, persuasive debating, or hacking through rhythm-based challenges. Failure can lead to arrests, social humiliation, or financial penalties, reinforcing the city’s unforgiving nature.

Character Relationships and Personal Evolution

1. Relationship Webs: Forge alliances with factions like corrupt corporations, activist groups, or underground syndicates. Your affiliations grant exclusive perks but may pit allies against each other, forcing loyalty tests or betrayals.

2. Adaptive Dialogue System: NPCs react to your clothing, body language, and past actions during conversations. A character you helped earlier might vouch for you during a police interrogation, while one you betrayed could spread rumors that close doors.

3. Identity Customization: Visually and mechanically evolve your character—wear sharp suits to gain entry to upscale venues, or adopt a rugged appearance to blend into the slums. Your style influences how different social classes perceive and treat you.
